Two Aim High digital media apprentices were given a fantastic opportunity by a regional media outlet this weekend and attended the 25th Sunderland International Airshow with media passes, courtesy of The North East Hub.
Nick and Kaitlynn, both level 2 digital media apprentices were invited along by Donna at the North East Hub to share her day in the “media only access zone” at the Sunderland Airshow.
Our apprentices were able to mingle with international media teams from all over the world and were one of only two media outlets to secure an interview with Mike Ling, Red Arrows team member, more commonly known as ‘Red 10’
Nick and Kaitlynn were also able to meet photographers and TV crews and were able to ask them how they started out in their careers and what advice they could give them if looking for employment in such an industry.
Tom Davison, director at Aim High said, “The opportunity that The North East HUB has given to our digital media students is fantastic. For Kaitlynn and Nick to see how the industry works and what impact digital media has on a major event like the Sunderland Airshow is priceless.
“The images and video taken by the students can be used for their portfolio too. What an exciting way to build vital experience, thank you to Donna and The North East HUB.
“Here at Aim High Training we provide apprenticeship programmes in digital media and IT for 16-18 year olds across the region. An experience such as this will prove valuable for their routes into employment.”
Donna Petch, Owner of The North East HUB said: “I am so pleased I was able to help Kaitlynn and Nick gain hands on experience towards their digital media apprenticeship. They both handled the day great and I was very impressed with their interviews. I would definitely like to offer this opportunity again to other students.”
The North East HUB is an online organisation to support and promote the North East and was set up by Donna Petch, 31, Roker, over a year ago. The organisation has worked with hundreds of local businesses and events.
